Catalina is leading the way to a brighter future for all New Yorkers.

Catalina is a DREAMer, an attorney, and an advocate. She is a proven leader with a remarkable track record of winning rights and resources for our communities. She was first elected in 2018 to represent our community's 39th Assembly District (Corona, Elmhurst, Jackson Heights, and now also Rego Park, Maspeth).

In her time in office, she has successfully enacted nearly 20 new laws and co-sponsored over 400 bills, focusing on critical issues like food insecurity, immigrant rights, LGBTQIA+ advocacy, protecting our seniors and workers, and supporting our small businesses.

Catalina is the driving force in the fight for families in Queens and all of New York.

Catalina has led the charge in passing groundbreaking legislation like Nourish NY, the Wage Theft Accountability Act, the Child Victims Act, the Jose Peralta Dream Act, the Lorena Borjas transgender & non-binary (TGNB) wellness & equity program fund act, as well as stricter gun laws and rent laws reforms.

As we continue to recover from the pandemic, Catalina remains dedicated to making our city healthier, stronger, and fairer for all. She has secured essential state funding for crucial community resources, including equipment for Elmhurst Hospital, updates to our our local K-12 public schools, and various tenant and small homeowner programs.

Catalina was born in Colombia and arrived in Queens at the age of 9 as an undocumented American. Raised by a single mother of four who worked tirelessly in multiple menial jobs to support her family, Catalina draws immense inspiration from her mother's determination.

Catalina understands the struggles and triumphs of our neighbors.

She holds a BA from the John Jay College of Criminal Justice and a JD from the City University of New York School of Law. As a licensed attorney, she has dedicated her career to advocating for tenant protections, immigration reform, and workers' rights in both nonprofit and government sectors.

The work to protect our families and ensure their future has never been more important and Catalina is leading the way. Join us to re-elect Catalina to the Assembly as she blazes a new path for us all!
